· Explain factor affecting soil compaction:-
The following
factors of soil compaction are as
follow:-
1.
Moisture content:-
It has
been seen by the laboratory experiment that as the water content is increased,
compacted density goes on increasing till a maximum dry density is achieve
which further addition of water, decreases the dendity.
2.
Type of compaction:-
The type
of compaction is also affected the dry density because any soil shows good
result with the particular type of compaction i.e. at the same moisture content
soil has maximum dry density with a particular type of compaction.
3.
Amount of compaction:-
The
effect of increasing the compactive energy, result in an increasing in the
maximum dry density and decreasing in the optimum moisture content.
4.
Type of soil:-
The
maximum dry density achieved corresponding to a given compactive energy largely
depend upon the type of soil.
5.
Addition of admixture:-
A number
of admixtures may be incorporated in the soil to modify its compaction
properties. The most commonly used admixtures are – cement, lime and bitumen.
